On the afternoon of December 17, 2025, Academician Biao Yu from the Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, was invited to the College of Chemistry, delivering an academic lecture titled "Deciphering the Glycocode of Life."

The lecture began with an introduction to the chemical and biological background of carbohydrates. It then reviewed some representative work from Yu's laboratory in the chemical synthesis of natural glycoconjugates and the glycosylation reactions subsequently developed. The lecture also introduced the unique structures evolved by certain natural glycoconjugates, along with their bioactivity and mechanisms.
