On the afternoon of April 20, the results of the CCS Photochemistry Prize were announced at the closing ceremony of the 19th National Symposium on Photochemistry in China. Prof. Wen-Jing Xiao from our group was honored with the "CCS Photochemistry Prize for Outstanding Contributions" in recognition of his systematic original achievements and outstanding international influence in the field of photochemistry.
Established by the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS), the CCS Photochemistry Prize aims to encourage innovative research and promote the development of photochemistry in China. The award is presented biennially and comprises four categories: " Outstanding Achievement Award," "Distinguished Contribution Award," "Youth Innovation Award," and "Rising Star Award," honoring scientists who have made significant breakthroughs in photochemistry.
Prof. Xiao has long been dedicated to the research of photochemistry, proposing the "energy transfer mechanism" and "deprotonative-photoinduced electron transfer strategy" in homogeneous photochemical reactions. His work has enabled various visible-light-induced controllable radical reactions. Notably, his sp2 C-B bond photocatalytic oxidation reaction was internationally recognized as "Xiao’s Oxidation." Additionally, his methods for the synthesis and transformation of arenes under mild conditions have provided new pathways for the green transformation of traditional chemical industries. A perennial name in the Clarivate Highly Cited Researchers list, Prof. Xiao has published over 300 research papers, amassing 28,500 citations and an H-index of 92, underscoring the broad impact of his work.
Let’s congrats Prof. Xiao’s award and hope our group continues success in greater advancements of photochemistry in the future!
