Recently, the College of Chemistry at our university welcomed two distinguished guests - Professor Tomoya Miura from Okayama University and Professor Tian-Li Wang from Sichuan University. On December 16, 2024, the two professors visited our university's College of Chemistry and presented two outstanding academic lectures that stirred up an academic fervor on campus.
Professor Tomoya Miura focused on the cutting-edge field of chemistry and expounded on the mysteries behind complex chemical reaction mechanisms under the topic of "Domino Reaction Combining Reversible and Irreversible Reactions and Recent Research Results". With his profound academic attainment, he demonstrated the latest breakthroughs in this area through detailed data and vivid examples, triggering waves of contemplation among the audience.
Then, Professor Tian-Li Wang took a unique approach and delivered a lecture on "Bioinspired Peptide-Phosphonium Salt Catalysis toward Asymmetric Synthesis". Drawing inspiration from nature's exquisite design, Professor Wang explained how to achieve asymmetric synthesis using peptide-phosphonium salt catalysis, opening up new avenues for organic synthesis chemistry. The attending faculty and students were fully immersed in this intellectual feast.
This academic activity not only broadened the academic horizons of the students but also injected new vitality into relevant disciplinary fields at our university, expected to propel the on-campus scientific research work to new heights. It is believed that through continuous discussions with top scholars at home and abroad, our university's chemistry will continue to get more innovative achievements.
