Dr. P. Andrew Evans, visited our group and college of chemistry on Oct. 28, 2015, and gave us a wonderful lecture entitled with New Vistas in the Asymmetric Construction of C-N and C-C bonds. Currently, a major research thrust of the the Evans’ research group is engaged in the exploration and development of reactive intermediates for the expeditious synthesis of complex biologically important natural products. Specifically, they are interested in the development of diastereoselective radical cyclizations, temporary silicon-tethered ring-closing metathesis, and a variety of new asymmetric transition metal-catalyzed cross-coupling and carbocyclization reactions.
