Dr. Jon Tunge, visited our group and college of chemistry on July. 7, 2015, and gave us a wonderful lecture entitled with Synthesis via C-C Cleavage. Currently, a major research thrust of the Tunge group is the development of environmentally friendly methods for cross-coupling reactions using the strategy of utilizing CO₂ release as a driving force for the formation of reactive organometallics intermediates.
