On May 25th, we were privileged to welcome esteemed scholars to our group's PhD defenses. We had the great honor of having Prof. Ming-Hua Xu from Southern University of Science and Technology, Prof. Yefeng Tang from Tsinghua University, Prof. Ronghua Yang from Hunan Normal University, Prof. Chen Zhu from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Prof. Qiuling Song from Fuzhou University to serve as esteemed committee members. Prof. Ming-Hua Xu hosted the defenses as committee chairman.

Bin Shi (advisors: Prof. Lu and Prof. Xiao) was defending his thesis titled Pd-Catalyzed Asymmetric Dipolar Cyclizations for Medium-Sized Heterocycle Synthesis.

Xiang-Kui He (advisors: Prof. Lu and Prof. Xiao) was defending his thesis titled Visible-Light Induced Cobalt and Nickel Catalyzed Desymmetrization.

Yue Jia (advisors: Prof. Xiao and Prof. Lu) was defending his thesis titled Visible-Light-Induced Kinetic Resolutions and Amino Acid Transformations.

Bao-Le Qu (advisors: Prof. Xiao and Prof. Lu) was defending his thesis titled Synthesis of Axially Chiral Medium- and Macrocycles via Dipolar Cyclization Strategy.

Wei Xiong (advisors: Prof. Xiao and Prof. Lu) was defending his thesis titled Asymmetric Reductive Couplings by Merging Photoredox and Cobalt Catalysis.

Xue-Song Zhou (advisors: Prof. Chen and Prof. Xiao) was defending his thesis titled Asymmetric Radical Reactions of β-Ketoesters via Dual Photoredox/Nickel Catalysis.

Zheng-Xin Zhou (advisor: Prof. Lu) was defending his thesis titled Palladium-catalyzed asymmetric dipolar cyclization for the construction of trans-cycloalkenes and spirocyclic indolones.
